With one week left we are nearing our goal of raising $1,500. So far we have received $930.97, or 62% of our goal. Thank you to everyone who has contributed towards this trip. We are really looking forward to this opportunity. The more I read about Cambodia's history, the clearer it is that it will take generations for its people to recover. I've been reading When Broken Glass Floats, a memoir of survival. In heart wrenching detail, the author describes her first person account of the killing fields. Those atrocities did no disappear when a new government was formed. Continuing accounts of despair and depravity can be traced back to this time in Cambodia's history.
Cambodia remains a nation of loss. The children served by Asia's Hope bear witness to the loss of this nation. The countless children who are trafficked into slavery and exploitation can be found in Cambodia, neighboring countries and even in the United States. The only immediate answer is to keep them off the streets and out of the hands of those who would exploit their youth and innocence. Please keep these children in mind and consider Psalm 82:3-4 "Vindicate the weak and fatherless; do justice to the afflicted and destitute. Rescue the weak and need; deliver them out of the hands of the wicked."
